Hacienda Apartments.

WJ Structures were awarded a contract by Living City Asset Management to rebuild the defective façade of the Hacienda Building in Deansgate, Manchester – specifically to the curved elevation on Whitworth St West. The façade was defective due to workmanship errors in its original construction.

The scope of work included taking on the role of principal contractor, establishing a site setup (including site hoarding, fencing, signage, welfare, power, water and access scaffold). Including H&S control and management to CDM regulations (2015). Once a site boundary was established and an access scaffold was erected, we proceeded to take down the curved elevation façade brickwork including surveying any additional defects and reporting them back to the client. We then rebuilt the curved façade elevation in accordance with Architect/Structural engineer repair details including making good any additional defects to improve the longevity of the building. Masonry ledger angle supports were replaced with new and movement joints to prevent the original defects (movement and cracking) from happening again.
